Hi all,
I bought this A470 for next to nothing, only to discover that it takes really nice, close, macros ....... if ..... one can get the focus right. It seems that the distance from the subject is critical, especially zoomed in, and what often looks good on the screen turns out to be blurry. I was wondering if there's a CHDK setting or script that will help me to asses if the camera is focussed or not?
Thanks,
....... john

There aren't really any CHDK features to help you check focus.

You may be able to use CHDK subject distance (focus) bracketing to increase the chances of getting one good focus shot. See https://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_User_Manual#Bracketing_in_Continuous_Mode

You can also use software to "focus stack" bracketed shots.

If you aren't using it already, the Canon firmware "AF-Point Zoom" feature may help, see page 76 of the Canon manual.
Don't forget what the H stands for.
