using the onboard mic as a shutter trigger?

I was wondering if there was any way to use the onboard mic as a trigger to take pictures.  I was seeing people trying to make audio triggers through the usb port, but i'm no good with electronics.  using the onboard mic would also take much less space.  i assume its possible only because motion detection is possible, but i could be totally wrong.

Hej,
Sounds like a good idea, I hope it's possible.
Though I'm wondering if the microphone is any active when shooting pics, maybe it's only possible in video mode ?

Also some cams don't record sound (I think A4xx possibly low serie A5xx (like A530)).
