Custom Timer

I tried to change the timer delay and # of shots in the custom timer mode on the SX40HS and the SX700HS via the set_prop commands to their respective propsets (#5&#6) - it  didn't work for both of them. Is it because these propset values are read only ?
I then tried to change these values by scripting "press" commands to follow the manual sequence of setting the timer delay and # of shots, i.e press "timer", press "right", etc. When it came to the press "menu" command, the
menu that was presented was the main camera settings menu, instead of the timer delay, # of shots menu that you would normally get when you do it manually.
Has anybody experienced similar problems like this, and whether you have already found a solution or workaround ? Thanks.

Use the click command instead of press. click simulates a button press+release, press only presses the button but doesn't release it.

I don't know a better method for adjusting the custom timer properties, unfortunately.

Thanks for your reply. I've also used 'click' instead of 'press' - doesn't work too.

Before posting, I actually tried setting the custom timer properties through the chdkptp gui, using my sx280. As far as I know, chdkptp sends click commands when using its camera buttons.
Perhaps the custom timer Canon GUI looks/works differently on your cameras...?

The actual menu that opens when you press the Menu key depends on whether you are in shooting or playback mode. Could that be the problem?

(Also, the timer setting are in the menu opened by Func/Set rather than the Menu key on some of my cameras.)
