Heya peeps ^_^

I have an SX620HS camera that I would like to use CHDK on, but it hasn't been ported to that model yet. So I figure I should look into that myself.

I got the firmware dump, but I'm afraid the whole ARM assembly part is a little beyond me. I wouldn't mind helping test things though (please don't make me do dangerous things with it, it's my only camera ^_^;)

If anyone is interested in helping me, the firmware dump is here.
The camera's Platform ID is 32c3.
From looking through the firmware, it looks like it's DryOS version 2.3, release #0058+p7, which seems about right for the P-ID. Firmware version is 100b.
There are two other models with the same DryOS version listed in the P-ID table (SX420IS and ELPH180); does that mean porting to the SX620HS will be easier?

To mods: is this the correct subforum for this? I wasn't sure I should pick the Firmware or DryOS one. This one seemed more specific.

ETA firmware version

Quote from: FAQ
please do not volunteer as a tester hoping that will attract a developer to work on your camera. If you are actually willing to spend hours and hours trying different builds of the CHDK software and live through crashes and reloads and partially working software, and then document in detail what you discover, the developers will welcome your help.

FWIW, if you have some programming experience, porting for a digic 5 or below camera can be done without much assembly knowledge. It will take quite a bit of time and effort.

Having a port of a the same OS version gives you a better example to follow and reduces the chances of surprises. Helpful, but a port still takes a significant amount of work.
Don't forget what the H stands for.
