I do not think that the port for 100F will be done ever. Because there is the update to 100G and it's much simpler to  update the camera than to port the CHDK to an another fw version.
The same philosophy is used for A620 100E.

So, being ignorant of the firmware, are you saying that the differences in F and G versions are likely to be such that any CHDK port is unlikely to drive the F version as it will have been developed from the G dump  and hence, its not worth checking if it does work in the main for both?

Actually, I do not clearly understand your sentence. (I'm just in the pre-intermediate level of studying English. ;) )
I just want to say that if we have one version of firmware, to which every S80 can be upgraded, it's most likely irrational to spend a time and an effort for geting dumps and porting of other versions.
For G we have the dump. For F, C, etc. we do have nothing to start at all.
There is a chance, that the G-port could work with F-camera (F & G are close in the versions line). But it's just a chance.

My apologies...one always makes an assumption...if someone writes English they are English speakers !!

Your last sentence indicates what I am saying...I will use the G port and see how well it works with the F firmware...we will then have an answer... I am sure I will eventually upgrade my firmware
Anyway we have to wait and see if anyone is successful with a port of the G firmware ;-)

Does anyone know what the difference is between the F and G firmwares?

I'm very excited to get RAW support on my S80!  I'm surprised its taken this long to drum up enough interest to complete the port.  Of course, I just came across CHDK yesterday, so I should be so surprised.

BTW, this is a little off topic, but in case anyone is interested, I was able to completely disassemble (even taking the lens completely apart) and resolve an E18 error I had after dropping my camera with the lens extended.  The whole process took me 7.5 hours (first time).  But now I feel like my camera has a new lease on life!

Now for the RAW support...

Hi, I have a Canon PowerShot S80 too.. the firmware is 1.00F
I have a question, how do I update my firmware to 1.00G?
I have the file, I put it in the root folder of my SD, but when I tried to look for the "Firmware Update" option in the menu, I couldn't find it.

Also Best of Luck porting CHDK to Canon S80. I can't wait  :D
I'm also willing to be the beta tester for the CHDK port.

Thanks in advance.

I don't own the S80 but on an A710IS you have to start in playback mode, switching to playback afterwards is
useless, also if the lens is then closed.
