I have tried everything to get my firmware version the sd card with ver.req works on my canon 940 but wont on my sx30 i have tried the func. display buttons and a combination of about every button on the camera..i am starting in display mode if i hold the function 4 or 5 seconds the time comes up so i assume it is working and the display button works as it should ...any one have any help or ideas..

Use ACID instead.

If you use STICK - by the author of ACID - it will also setup your SD card correctly for you.
