Mute on Zoom? Ok finally found that and turned the mute on. Now I notice when I zoom it cuts the sound off , is that the way its supposed to work?

Yet one more question when I want delete pix off my my SD card I have to unlock it correct? I tried it with the card locked and it would not work........

Oh my poor brain is getting a work out today  :'(

Is there also limit to what size SD card I can use? I was thinging about going with a class 6 transcend 16gb if that would work?

Thanks,
John

If CHDK is active the cam will not be aware it's locked, and should happily delete, from either the Canon
menu or with CHDK's filebrowser.

if you are starting CHDK the 'firm update' way, no, you can use any card that your cam recognises.
however, if you start CHDK the 'bootable' way (using the card lock) you can normally only use cards up to 4 Gb,
because this method requires a FAT16 file system, and the max. size of a FAT16 file system is 4 Gb.

I usually use the card reader to delete the pix and it would not work with the card locked, is that normal?

So if I start the camera with the card unlocked in review mode and go to firmware goto update to the newer 1,1x version and then turn the camera to the take pix position I can use a large SD disc correct?

Thanks

Yes, absolutely.

Yes, also correct - the A710 supports SDHC cards, so you should be able to use cards up to a size of 16 GB or maybe more...

You'll find much more informations about CHDK & it's features in the CHDK wikia, e.g. here , here , in the firmware usage documentation #1 , #2 and #3   - and also in the CHDK FAQ's.
