I am still looking if I can make it shorter.

The instruction this far is 4 pages, but to make it comprehensable i would like to split it in 11 pages.
I've placed <PAGE number> on top of each block of text to point out the next page.
<PAGE number> in a block of text or at the bottom should be a link to a new page.

This is still not complete or finished, but I think it is a good start.
Feel free to comment.
I think it is ready for a first publication to get some feedback about unclear or failling instructions.

The wiki does not lend itself well to a multi-page format.  However, we can easily divide things into sections with an index on the top of the page that gives links to all the sections.  Take a look at the CHDK User Manual for an example.

I'm working up my courage.   :P

I'm travelling right now so will only have sporadic time to contribute today.  Don't be too surprised if there are not a lot of comments from anyone else - the heyday of CHDK is somewhat in the past.

i think your proposal with a index is a possibility, but i must say that in my experience seperate pages work much better if you want to convey a message.
...i was even thinking about splitting it up some more,
it also gives the possibility to put the other methodes in a similar frame.

but if you want 1 page, i suggest only page 1-5, drop everything else except for the links to other methods, that is too much of a read already.

and I'm not in a rush, for me it is clear without the instruction  :D
it is now out of my hands, if nobody responds I can only assume I did a good job ;)

Good work. It is quite difficult to write good descriptions. I know what I'm talking about. I wrote the german CHDK manual.

The ALT key description I find not quite succeeded.

In general, the ALT key is the print/shortcut (with a blue LED, rather older cameras) or the playback key (blue triangle, rather newer cameras). There are a few exceptions:
  • A480 [MODE] Button
  • A3000, SX120, SX130 [FACE] Button
  • Ixus220, Ixus1000 [VIDEO] Button
  • N / N Facebook Edition [WiFi/Facebook] Button
  • EOS M3 [M-Fn] Button
  • Touchscreen cameras with CHDK touchscreen support[CHDK] Button

i pulled the alt key description from chdk for dummy's, and thank you msl.
i've adapted it in this more readable version, if multi page is not an option.
away with those page numbers.

and i have one edit to change, or there is some work in the programming department ;)
dual boot only seems to work as fat16 with fat32.
i tried FAT16 with exFAT, and then it states at startup ERROR MISSING MODULE and i am unable to load scripts.
However CHDK seems mostly functional

Yes. I wouldn't expect it to work with exFAT.

This means that CHDK wasn't able able access the CHDK directory. Many things will be broken.

Does the camera see the amount of space that would be available on the exFAT partition?
Don't forget what the H stands for.

No, the camera is stuck in partition 1. it does not move to the exFAT.

it can be a bit tricky to create a bootable card, especially dual partition card larger than 32GB.
This might help:
