gcc compilation error

Host: Debian Stretch 64 bits; have d/l the chdk trunk, and when trying to compile with this command:

make PLATFORM=m10 PLATFORMSUB=110f OPT_USE_GCC_EABI=1 fir

It throws the "value too large for field" (trying to assign a 257 value for a char/unsigned type, or something alike)

Any solution to this?
Thanks in advance

Try using a pre-built toolchain from here, preferably 4.9.
GCC 5 and later can cause various problems.

OK, I'll try that; what I'm trying to do, is to get rid of the hdmi overlay in video capture
Thanks a lot!
