using the Canon G9 without objective for astronomical purpose

Hi all, i have an old Canon G9 and wanted to use it as a astronomical cam with my telescope. Therefor i cut off the objective and the IR filter. Unfortunatly the cam does an objective test routine when starting up... , show a camerastart failure... and switches off. Any chance to start the cam functions without the objective to use the cmos stand alone?? i just checked the chdk firmware  but camera test overides... would be happy to use it again... but no chance to rebuild the objective... tx for help best regards matthias from germany

Hi waterwing,
tx for prompt reply... but i guess i demaged it ... i'm not so familiar wit hardcore programming... so if there is no routine to patch that error, i guess i have to dump it into the basket... ;-(( really sad about, because the chip seems very good for longtime astro shots...
chears matthias
