Hello, I'm going to look for AC power adapters for my IXUS 55 and PowerShot ELPH 300 HS which I want to use for time lapses but before I buy one, I wanted to ask whether it is possible to use a standard USB power adapter to power the camera thanks to CHDK by any chance?

https://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=11749.0 was an interesting read but uses the battery port, not the USB port.

I'm afraid not. CHDK can't change the camera's hardware, and that's what would be necessary for powering the camera over a USB adapter.   Note that some Powershots do actually support that "out of the box" - the Powershot N series being one example.
