Ok so i got it up and running sort of, it can boot into CHDK but it seems the menu button is not working, i have to half press the shutter and then press the function key to get to the menu, this also brings whatever is open behind it up everytime you press a button.
I managed to get KAP running and the pixhawk triggers the camera (it makes the sound and the screen goes black) but it doesnt actually record the picture anyware... i took a picture normally and it works fine.
Is there any way i can help resolve these?

EDIT- i just realized pushing the shutter and then function takes me to the scripts menu not the full menu.. i cant get to the full menu

Im thinking maybe its the settings for CHDK not allowing overrides thats stopping pictures from saving?
As once KAP is running not even the shutter button will take a picture that actually saves, it flashes red on the display "No Overrides"......

This is normal for now, the MENU button has not been added yet.
Unfortunately, now I do not have the time to fix it. I'll come back in a few days and explain what you need to do, I can not do this without a camera.

Is there a way to set chdk menu items somewhere in the files so it just boots with my settings?

Not in a simple way.
Theoretically, you might be able to edit the .cfg file but it is not a text file or change the source code.
Maybe someone else has an idea of how to do it, but I believe there is no easy way.

All settings will be stored automatically. You can backup and restore the configuration files (CCHDK4.CFG, GPS__4.CFG, OSD__4.CFG, UMENU4.CFG). There are also script functions. Long time ago I had made a script for saving/restore of the configuration.

You can also try Zeno's CFG editor.
