Can a script do this for shots using an ND1000 filter?

Having started to experiment with ND filters and finding that the camera will only show times up to 15s in the exif data, I would like to know if a script could be written to trigger a timer delay, say 2 seconds, then take a picture which could be up to 2 minutes exposure (set manually) then edit the exif/keyword data to say "ND1000" and correct the exposure time to what was used.
I know there are scripts to add keywords to selected shots, but I would want this only to add the text to the photo just taken by the script.

The most of what you suggest is trivial to put into a script.  But AFAIK the only work done so far with changing EXIF data via a Lua script is the ability to write to the comment field of the EXIF data.  You could push "ND1000" and the exposure time in there as a string. However, correcting the EXIF exposure time fields is not something I have seen anyone attempt but I could be wrong.

Which cam?
I never checked the limits but my G1x shows a least 30s.
