polarizer effectiveness with SX100

Hi,
I have fitted my SX100 with a (clip on) polarizing filter; but since it does not have a viewfinder, it is rather difficult to see the subtle  effect of the filter on the screen, especially in bright sunlight.
I'm thinking that either the histogram or zebra applicatins may be able to help me to determine when the polarizer is at it's optimal rotation, but am not really sure which application (if either) will help, what settings to use, and what to look for.
       Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
..... john

Use the Camera in M Mode (with fixed ISO) and watch the exposure step bar. The bar should go to minimum.
M100 100a, M3 121a, G9x II (1.00c), 2*G1x (101a,100e), S110 (103a), SX50 (100c), SX230 (101a), S45,

That's not available on sx100.

So, alternatives while the cam is in M mode with fixed ISO:
- exposure hint in half press (on the Canon OSD)
- Bv (brightness value) on the CHDK Misc values display
- CHDK histogram
