Tested my remaining 7 SX series cams tonight.
All passed 25/25 tests except the SX200.
Thanks  :D

Here's a test build with the bug 0x23f4 fix for sx200

Excellent, that passed 25/25 and can be checked in. Will post the log.txt with the next bunch, left it on the XP box for now.
Koshy had a little ELPH which wasn't white as snow but everywhere that Koshy went the ELPH was sure to go. (actually an SD, but that detail ruins the rhyme...)

Tested all A4xx

A410, the oldest shows trouble, A480 something about a non equal message.

Everything else passes all. A490 & A495 do not remote shoot in cont as expected. Both cont (c) and non cont (nc) tests included. Also SX200_II log...

A-Cams are plentiful, just hope to be done with 'em..

Here are all A5xx.

A540,A570,A580,A590 pass 25/25
A530, A550 and A560 have issues.

With these older A series cameras the cam needs to be in play mode to be hooked up via USB. That looses the cont setting. So I guess one could connect with CHDKPTP GUI, switch to Rec, set up continuous shooting, disconnect then run the commandline tests. I didn't do that. Thus I expect most of these to have had cont disabled. You'll see...

Oh there are 2 Romlogs along. the "maybe" I'm not sure if the camera crashed or if I turned it off. I tried to get a Romlog and got one, hence the "maybe". May also be old.

I thought I'd do the A7xx as they are only three and then call it a day. Turned out my A710 did not want to cooperate. I switch it to Rec and it crashes / turns off. Can't turn it on unless in play mode either. That is it crahes when turned on in Rec mode. That is with or without CHDK (with or without card lock). I thought it was about energy but I tried a dozen sets of AAs and maybe it's not. Enclosing a Romlog, perhaps it's broken in some way - can you see any clues as to what's up with it?

A700 and A720 passed 25/25

Turned out Ixus 185 was not tested with the rest of the lot as it was buried on this lovely desk... Need to excavate some things and thus remove some cams... It better be tested and put with the rest of the Ixus cameras, they must miss it, too. It passed 25/25

A410, the oldest shows trouble
This failed on 52 byte transfer like ixus30 and some other early VX cams, but unlike those, A410 has the usual native PTP buffer functions. Test build attached.

, A480 something about a non equal message.
That's weird. The test sends a message, the camera echos it back, and the test compares. In this case, the last 4 characters of the message turned from "o wo" to "xxxx". Some other tests use "x" as the test string. ???

Can you try running a few times to see if it's reproducible? You can just run the bench and xferbug tests, since it didn't get to the file transfer and shooting ones before it failed
Code: [Select]
chdkptp -e"exec require'camtests'.runbatch{bench=true,xfersizebugs=true}"

Totally fine. Really everything beyond the size bug tests is a bonus.

I need to look at the 5xx problems a bit more. I recall some of those models had known issues switching to rec, but it looks like a550 and a560 crashed switching to playback.

On the A710, I haven't dug into the ROMLOG yet, but it's possible corrupted flash params could cause this kind of behavior (https://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=5660.msg55221#msg55221)
You could try resetting settings to default in the canon menu to start.

Here's a test build for A530

Background on vxworks mode switching issues: https://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=10664.msg105118#msg105118

The crash on switch to play seen on the other cams was noted before, and from what I can tell not fully resolved.

edit:
Oops, the first build I uploaded (-test-1) included the a410 changes too. Here's one with just the a530 change.

The romlog says it's an undefined instruction exception. My guess is bit fade in flash ROM. There's a chance it can be restored. Can you make a firmware dump?

Yes sure can. It does differ from what we have on file. I loooked it up I dumped the FW of this very camera in 2014. That dump went into the general FW collection, what is there is identical in timestamp and file content to the dump I saved in my own FW dumps file structure. So you seem to be right. How does one restore this? Bit by bit?
