I want to improve my knowledge of CHDK, so I tried downloading a zipped version before i feel up to SVN
but non of the links seem to work for me.

you are probably right. and well, I'm just not sure if I'm up to it.
but thanks a lot for the link, i gives me the chance to confirm or deny my assumption.
however, this does mean a number of links referring to the zips on different chdk pages are dead.

I think the tools... urls have been deprecated for a long time. If you encounter incorrect links on the wiki feel free to correct them, or post something here if you aren't sure what the correct link is.

I'd second the suggesting of using an SVN checkout instead. You don't have to know SVN, once you use the checkout command you have a regular file tree just like if you'd unzipped a zip.
