I tried the ISO override thing on my A570, and while it seems to work OK for values in the higher range (around 800), I find it totally not working for values lower than 80.
I didn't watch the exposure time to see if it is any different than ISO 80, but I've noticed no single improvement in the noise. I tried all kind of values, from 10 to 80, and the noise is pretty much the same.
Did anyone experience lower noise at lower ISOs?

According to the A570 entry in the camera features chart here CameraFeatures - CHDK Wiki the lowest ISO value you can set is 50.

Yes, I know that most camera can't go under ISO 50, but I tried values higher than 50 and the noise is pretty much the same as ISO 80.
I would have expected an ISO value of 50 to give much less noise than 80.
