I bought a Canon IXUS 185 camera. I bought it because I want to use CHDK, especially for the PTP system. However, I ran into problems that are not yet resolved and appear in camnotes.txt  (CHDK v 100a)

When I inquire on the internet, PTP is apparently related to FWT. As there is no FWT in Ixus 185 (chdk 100a), I cannot transfer photos to the PC with script or live view.

My question is this: Is it a temporary limitation or will it have a solution soon? I need to know, since I bought that model and I can't sell them at the original cost, but at a 50% lower price.

Cuando indago  en internet, aparentemente está relacionado PTP con FWT. Al no haber FWT en Ixus 185, no se puede transferir fotografías a la PC con script ni hacer live view.

Mi duda es la siguiente: ¿Es una limitación temporal o tendrá solución pronto?  Necesito saber, ya que compré ese modelo y no puedo venderlas al costo original, sino a un precio 50% menor.

Without FWT, you cannot remote shoot jpeg files. This means the chdkptp 'rs' command will not work with jpeg. You can use rs with DNG, but jpeg will still save on the card.

You can shoot, download file and delete. It's just a bit slower. In chdkptp, you can use shoot -rm -dl to do this.

FWT doesn't affect live view. If there are problems with live view on this port, it's  different problem.

I think FWT can be implemented on this camera. If you are willing to test, I will try to make a test build in the next week or so.

I am testing several capture software with chdkptp. With an IXUS 185 I get the following error: 0x2ff.

I was able to take pictures remotely and they are saved in the SD memory without problem. However, I need to know if the picture worked or if I have to do it again.

I will try to change the format to DNG in CHDK to get a possible solution.  :xmas

This is not related to FWT.

It means there was an error with the connection. Maybe the camera crashed, or some other software interfered.

Are you using windows or linux?

What do you mean by "several capture software" ? Other programs, not chdkptp?

If you are using chdkptp, you can use

DNG is quite slow, and might not look like jpeg.

He instalado el CHDK parcheado en mi memoria. Todo bien.

Aún no funciona la transferencia de fotografías a la PC (PTP) porque, según entiendo, es necesario tener FWT, el cual no está en IXUS 185.

En software de terceros (que han automatizado chdkptp con interfaz gráfica o comandos sintetizados) reconoce la cámara, hace shoot, pero no transfiere las imágenes a la PC.

Se supone que IXUS 185 es la misma ELPH 180 con la única diferencia en el sensor.  ¿Se puede partir de ahí? con Elph 180 no tengo ningún problema.

Ahora bien, el error común tiene que ver con 0x2ff. Este error aparece en el FAQ de PTP extension https://chdk.fandom.com/wiki/PTP_Extension

Perhaps you didn't correctly specify the file on the camera. Always use the full path and start with a capitalised 'A'. For example: "download A/DCIM/100CANON/IMG_1234.jpg test.jpg"
note this mainly applies to ptpcam, chdkptp corrects the names for you.

Intenté solucionar esto deshabilitando el "eco mode" y deshabilitando el apagado automático de pantalla. Funciona a veces, pero la cámara falla.

En los diferentes software que automatizan chdkptp me aparece ese error 0x2ff.  Y si aparece en el FAQ de CHDK, entonces algo no está funcionando bien en la compilación.

¿Se puede solucionar viendo el firmware de Elph 180?

I'm using windows.

PTPCamGUI: Works great. Shoot, live, filters, menú controled from windows, video, download, etc.

Nevertheless the program is obsolete. This program is no longer maintained. Better is to use chdkptp.

No shoot, no video, no live




Download images on SD card, yes.






Edited:

I thought the REC button on chdkPTP was something else. I clicked and everything works very well.

Shoot, I can see the screen live, I can record video, and all that.

With remote capture I can take a photo, but it doesn't download in jpg to the pc; The software freezes. With DNG shoot at a distance, yes. It works very well.
