Hi

I have a rather basic problem. Anyone know how to use the shutter button to take just one snap with manual focus? I'm trying to use manual focus with infinity distance, but if I take a shot after leaving ALT mode, and come back to ALT mode to check the focus distance, manual focus is changed to OFF. I already have AF-Point Zoom, Servo AF and Continuous AF set to OFF.

Here's my camera settings:

Here's my subject distance setting:

Here's what happens after taking a shot outside ALT mode:

Thanks

What camera are you using?
Don't forget what the H stands for.

It's an IXUS 145.

This is pretty odd. Shooting should not turn the override off, and does not on my cameras.

There is a shortcut to toggle MF, which I think will be UP in alt mode (while not in a menu etc) on your camera.

There is also a shortcut to disable overrides, which I think would be half press + down on your camera. This shouldn't change the SD override setting directly though.

If you have the CHDK alt help screen enabled (CHDK settings->menu settings->show <alt> help screen) it will show you what the various shortcuts are.

If the 'disable overrides on startup' option is set, the option will be turned off the next time you restart the camera.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

I seem to recall having occasional trouble with an override set in the Enhanced Photo Operations menu, but I don't remember whether it was subject distance.
I could not reproduce it later. If it's there, it might be due to an uninitialized variable?
