'Stick' did not work for me at all - the photo would not transfer across and/or my computer had a meltdown indicating a security issue. A simple copy and paste was what worked.
Unless you took other steps from the CHDK wikia page about configuring your SD card, you will not be able to have CHDK automatically load when you turn each of your cameras on.  And so you will also not be able to have your script aitomatically start.  Stuff like that might be nice if you are eventually going to be running 50 cameras in the wild. A simple copy and paste is not sufficient.

Seems to be working fine.

But thanks for advice, I will definitely prototype and torture test prior to field deployment.
We never put anything in the field until it's put through it's paces first :)

Seems to be working fine.
Do you understand that there are two different methods of getting CHDK to run when you power your camera on?

Yes using the bootup method currently with autobot on startup in intervalometer settings.

Paint it silver or white?

Yes I think a nice silver or white will work.

With the boot method loaded and SD card locked. CHDK is successfully loading when I turn the camera on using the power button. All good.

However the ultimate lua reboot option (and autostart) does not appear to be working am I doing something wrong? How critical is this? How long will the camera run without a reboot?

Everything else is working perfectly now. Interval time, 24 hour set up, lens retracting with playback mode etc. All good.

I just can't get the script to restart after an auto reboot..

Cheers
Michael

IIRC from several years ago, things like internal timers can overflow / wrap after three weeks or so.

But bear in mind these little cameras were designed under the assumption that people turn them on,  take some picture or video, and then turn them off.  You have to assume that there was probably not a lot of testing by Canon of cameras running for hours or days, never mind weeks.  So periodic resets of something you hope to run for months unattended seems like a prudent course.

Strange.  That's a pretty fundamental feature and well tested.

I assume from what you've said that the "Autostart" option in the Script menu is set to "On" ?

Does the ultimate.lua script start running automatically when you first turn on the camera?

What happens if you try to Autostart a different script on power up? Pick as simple one from the EXAM folder.

Please enable the Script's Logging option - set it to SDCard or Both.  Rerun your tests and then post the resulting ULTIMATE.LOG file here as an attachment?

Thanks I'll try those tests.

I have turned the autostart to "on" but sometimes I notice when I go back into the menu it's turned to "off' again. Do I need to save chosen parameters somewhere is that automatic or an active setting I'm missing?

I just did a full CHDK reload and Lua reload and re-set parameters. Turned camera off, back on and the script started running automatically - reboot is set at 2am tonight (1 day reboot) so I'll see how it is in the morning.

Thanks
Michael
