Hello CHDKers,

I'm using the Canon M50 in combination with the Raspberry Pi for remote triggering, liveview and capture of images.
But because the liveview is very slow I want to use the HDMI port for liveview.

The problem is that HDMI is not available when USB is connected.

Anybody knows an idea to use USB and HDMI (for liveview) together?
I know with the Sony A-series like the Sony A5100 it is possible. So I think it should be possible on the Canon camera's as well.

That works on the few CHDK cameras that have HDMI output in rec mode.
Unfortunately, the firmware of EOS M50 is "EOS" firmware, not PowerShot-based. Therefore, the hack we use on "our" cameras is not available on the M50. I'm not very familiar with EOS firmware, so I can't say whether HDMI output could be retained with USB connected. You could try watching the ML forum, but no-one seems to work on M50 at the moment and USB support is neglected in ML source.

Which powershot can I use (recent model) to use both USB and HDMI together?

Is it possible to modificate the powershot, that it will switch on automatically when power/battery is connected (without using the on/off switch)?
This because I want to remote control the Powershot.

Out of ported cameras, G5X (the original) and also EOS M3, M10.
Note that using both connectors at the same time is not anticipated by Canon and you may need to hack one or both plugs to fit.

That's usually done with "taping down" the power button (and using a short script to make the cam behave normally).
