Hi,

First, thanks for the amazing development job. I use a powershot G16 and CHDK is a great companion!

I have a question regarding the possibility to access the AF assist beam of my Canon Speedlite 430EX II.

Whatever I tested I could only get the built-in assist beam from the g16 to work.
Trying to get information on the web I found 1 post saying that it is not possible: https://www.flickr.com/groups/2128051@N22/discuss/72157632418057330/

Could by any chance something be done with CHDK for that purpose? That would be a great functionnality!

Even if you could do that with CHDK, it won't do you any help.
There is a reason why Canon switches off the mirrorless ones. The light from AF assist beam only works with DSLRs with phase focus, because it's infrared.
You can't focus with contrast focus.
