I need help i downloaded the chdkptp app and i connected my canon Powershot SX260 HS and nothing happened,
What OS are you using? If Windows, did you install the libusb driver?

By "connected" you mean plugging in the USB cable, or connecting with the connect button or command?

Quote
i connected it through USB and through my HDMI Video Capture by HDMI Mini.
chdkptp uses USB. SX260 only supports HDMI out for viewing pictures in playback mode, not shooting.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum and definitely not an expert.

I have an old Canon SX700 HS and made a lot of research to turn it into a webcam, but I could not find anything, apart from the necessity of installing CHDK as a first step (100e firmware), which thing I have just done.

Also, I have a PENGO 1080p HDMI-USB 3.0 grabber,1080p@60fp (from the camera I go into it with HDMI cable), and when I connect it to my camera and to my Win10 computer I get clean HDMI on the Zoom meeting app but it seems like there is no way to have the live view (when I press "ON" or the shoot button on the camera, the lens opens up but nothing can be seen on the computer.)
I can only view pictures and menu on Zoom if I turn on the camera by the "Playback" button.

The settings of the camera are at 1080 and 60fps with HDMI enabled.
And I have tested the webcam on my TV via HDMI to see if I can get liveview, but nothing.
Am I missing something, like some extra software (like CHDKPTP) or script that needs to be installed on the SD card? Or maybe only USB connection is possible?

I have read that, unlike USB, only with HDMI and a video grabber I can get 1080@60fps. As said, I am not an expert. Just trying to grab the right information online.

I really hope someone can help. Thanks in advance!

I can only view pictures and menu on Zoom if I turn on the camera by the "Playback" button.
Unfortunately, your camera does does not support HDMI out in shooting mode. Only the EOS M can a couple of the G X series do. CHDK is not currently able to add this functionality to cameras which do not support it.

The only ways you could use your sx700 as webcam would be to use the analog video output (with Canon AVC-DC400/ AVC-DC400ST compatible cable) and an analog video capture device (google easycap for a cheap example), or using chdkptp live view, and capturing with the window with something like OBS or some virtual webcam software. Either of these would only give you low quality SD video.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Thanks a lot, Reyalp for your invaluable help!
I would have gone round in circles for ages otherwise...

I'll buy another camera then.
