The histogram, which I had on linear and blend, but tried with log and other display options, is unstable and jumps around all over the place.
Can you take screenshots with the the following enabled (separate screenshots for each setting)
1) "Debugging" -> "Show misc values" enabled
2) "Histogram" -> "Debug draw"

As I said earlier, it seems you are probably seeing additional bugs beyond the ones that I found.

edit:
Draw debug will probably draw very flickery dots on the screen. This is expected.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Not very quality I’m afraid, hope they are OK for debugging.

Thanks for posting those.
1) "Debugging" -> "Show misc values" enabled
Should show a big block of numbers on the lower right, which I don't see any any of the screenshots. Note this isn't the same as CHDK OSD "Misc values", it's under "Miscellaneous" -> "Debugging"

I assume the videos were taken with HDMI capture?

edit:
regarding the screenshots in #42, do the flashing pixels from histogram debug consistently not show in the upper part of the screen? In both screenshots it looks like they start maybe 1/8th of the way down, what I want to know is if this is random, or consistent?

Video was taken with HDMI capture.

Flashing pixels cover the entire screen and their visibility changes with cam exposure setting.

New screen grab attached.

Thanks.

I noticed in your last screenshot "auto-maginify" is enabled on the histogram. It's only 1.05x so there's minimal impact and no need to re-do it, but in general, if you want to compare with the Canon histogram, it should be off. Also, as I mentioned earlier the EV grid is just drawn at fixed intervals, so it's meaningless with auto-magnify.

This *probably* doesn't explain your results, unless the auto-magnify indicator sometimes fails to show when the histogram is magnified.

Edit:
actually, auto-magnify is in the Y direction so what I said is wrong anyway, but I'd still recommend keeping it off.

When I first tested this build I did experiment with auto mag on and off, but no impact on stability.

Yes I spotted that, but didn't say anything  ;)
