Hello,
I want desire install CHDK in hope to use my SX530HS remotely via USB (live preview and remote shutter). This seems possible regarding the PTP extension page : http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/PTP_Extension

However I had no luck so far. So I have some questions to ask you :

- Is the SX530HS supported by the PTP Extension,?
- Do I have to activate it somehow? (how enable this feature on my camera)
- When I boot CHDK and plug in the USB cable, the camera switch in play mode and there is nothing I can do.
- Will a library like Gphoto2 be able to access the SX530HS with the PTP Extension or do I have to use an app specially crafted for PTP Extension?

Thanks

Yes.

Not beyond having CHDK installed.

You should start the camera in play mode before connecting the cable, and then use CHDK script or a CHDK extension client command ('rec' in chdkptp) to switch to shooting mode. Attempting to use the on camera controls to switching between shooting and play is likely to cause problems.

Some versions of gphoto2 have some support for the CHDK extension, but I don't know how functional it is, and would strongly recommend using using the chdkptp client https://app.assembla.com/spaces/chdkptp/wiki
Don't forget what the H stands for.
