chdk + time-lapse scripts

Hi guys,

I'm starting to think this is not possible, at least not with the G9, so I thought I'd check. I'm trying to get time-lapse shooting working with an interval of 1-2 seconds, but even when set to 1 second, it takes about 4 seconds between shots.

Are any of you able to get it down to 1 or even 2 seconds? If so, which script are you using and which camera are you using?

Thanks

Some first needs  :haha: Set review-time off in Canon menu, reduce jpg-resolution, read...

What script are you using? Are you shooting jpeg or raw?

Canon specs say G9 is capable of 1.5 FPS in continuous mode (large/fine jpeg, raw presumably slower) https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/cameras/support-point-and-shoot/powershot-g-series/powershot-g9

You will generally not get a faster rate than the Canon spec. If you use an intervalometer script that does a full half press, auto focus + auto exposure, shoot cycle for every shot, it will be much slower.

If you use a script that shoots in continuous mode or holds half press clicks full it will be faster. https://chdk.fandom.com/wiki/Lua/Scripts:_Raw_Meter_Intervalometer is a script I wrote using this technique, which can generally shoot at speeds closer to the canon continuous mode spec.
Don't forget what the H stands for.
