Hi all,   Newbie here.   Can I get manual exposure mode (M) and manual white balance with CHDK on Elph 180.  Your specific instructions is much appreciated.   We are using CHDK 1.6.

You have a couple of options.   First of all, using the CHDK menus as explained here :

link > CHDK User Manual : Enhanced Photo Operations.

Or you can use a script that gives you a GUI interface like this :

link > CHDK+

AFAIK, there is no way to set white balance using CHDK.  Unless someone has added something recently that I missed.

Thank you very much Waterwingz for your super quick help.   It is good to know that I can get Manual Exposure.  Unfortunately no manual white balance is a dealbreaker for my specific application.

I think my only other option for capturing high resolution, 50mm equivalent field of view, and small sensor size (for wide depth of field) with manual exposure and manual white balance is Vivo X60 Pro Plus cellphone.   That phone does everything except for burst mode.

Thanks again

Unfortunately no manual white balance is a dealbreaker for my specific application.

I left out a third option. It's a bit complicated and brute force is involved but you can use a script to simulate pushes (or clicks) of the camera buttons.  You can actually navigate the Canon menus "blind" that way.  So if what you see for white balance in the Canon menus meets your needs then you might be able to do that?

Thank you.   That makes a difference.   According to Elph 180's manual,   there is a custom white balance mode.   Ok now a poor graduate student has to reduce your instructions to practice.   Thank you very very much.

Yes, the Canon firmware supports custom white balance.

Note also you can set the WB mode (Sunny, Cloudy etc) using CHDK script, you just can't the specific values for custom mode.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Thanks.   All of a sudden, I have a working solution.  Wow. Thank you
