usb trigger not working

I have an Elph320 HS and the KAP 4.0 script downloaded. When I turn on the camera, the screen shows that KAP 4.0 has started, is waiting for a USB signal, and is set to autostart. However, when I sent the signal it did not trigger the shutter, and the camera lens did not extend. It's able to read the signal but displays it as "idle trigger". Can someone help me on this? I'm not sure if I understand what an idle trigger means.

KAP has numerous USB related settings, it would be helpful to know which you are using, and what hardware and signaling you are using to trigger. I don't see "idle trigger" in the script, but there's some instances of "idle pulse"

You can verify the basic USB remote functionality without a script:
In CHDK Settings -> Remote Parameters, set
Check Enable remote
Set Switch type = OnePush
Set Control Mode = Normal

Then switch the camera to shooting mode, and apply USB power. The camera should go into the half shoot state, and shoot when you remove USB power.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

The kap_uav.lua script creates and stores a log file called KAP.LOG on the SD card by default.  If you copy that from the card and attach it to a response here, I might be able to help.

Then switch the camera to shooting mode, and apply USB power. The camera should go into the half shoot state, and shoot when you remove USB power.

Sorry, that was a mistake, it said "idle pulse". I just posted the script log.
And thanks I'll also try your method and see if it works.

What hardware are you using to trigger your camera?

You've setup the script to use a GentWire USB remote ( https://www.gentles.ltd.uk/gentwire/usb.htm ), which a device to take servo control signals from an RC radio and convert them to USB pulses that the script can detect and react to.

Is that the device you are using?

EDIT : I've just found out that Gentles Ltd has closed it's doors. That's too bad https://www.gentles.ltd.uk/index.html

It is not :( I'm using a DIY USB cable using a EFLA600.

Try setting the script parameter labelled "Shot Control Mode" to "OneShot".  If I read the EFLA600 data sheet correctly, that will cause the camera to shoot each time you push the associated RC control stick forward & backwards.
