I have successfully loaded the CHDK  release for SX60 HS and it seems to be working OK except the names of all the script files are greyed out. Cant run them.
  Please help if you can.

Is "Default Script  <ALT>" readable after switching to <ALT>?

thanks for your reply but still cant load any script files. When I choose "scripts" from the main menu, the script folder is opened and all the scripts are there but they are greyed-out.

I don't believe there's any functionality would "grey out" script files in this way. They might look grey for some reason, but there's no logic to use coloring to indicate they are somehow unusable.

What happens when you highlight a script and press set? Normally, this should take you back to the script menu, with the lower portion changed to show the name and menu options of the selected script.

To actually run the script, you need to exit the menu, and start it by pressing the shutter while in alt mode. The script name should show in the alt indicator.

Thanks for your suggestions. You are right about the script files . They look greyed out but seem to load OK.
Unfortunately the combinations of half shutter plus ''ALT" doesnt work on the SX60 HS. I have tried half shutter press with every button on the cammera.

To run a script, you must be in alt mode (script name and <alt> displayed at the bottom of the screen), and then fully press the shutter.

Thanks for trying to help but nothing I have tried works. I haven’t been able to find any one who has been able to get Chdk to work on sx60 hs
I am considering buying another camera. One that will run the firmware update version.. it will have to be a second hand one.

There have definitely been users who have reported successfully using the SX60 port. While it's possible that something has been broken by recent changes, I wouldn't assume that's the case.

If you describe specifically what you tried and what the result was, we should be able to help you know whether something is broken, or it's just CHDK not working the way you expect it to work.

If it was broken, we'd like to fix it, but we can only do that if a specific problem is identified.

It's extremely unlikely the firmware update loading method will help you. It just an inconvenient way of loading CHDK once, instead of having it load automatically.

In your video https://flic.kr/p/2ndYdnf at the very start when you turn on the camera, the motion detection grid is showing, indicating a script is running. However, the camera appears to still be in playback mode, so it can't shoot. Do you have Autostart on in the script options? If so, turn it off.

The still image shows the alt mode help screen, which by default appears after 3 seconds in alt mode when no script is running.

In general
* When in alt and no script is running, fully pressing the shutter starts the script
* If a script is running, fully pressing it ends the current script

If the script is one that shoots, you should usually switch to shooting mode before starting the script, though some scripts will do it for you.
