I managed to make my Canon SX40HS zoom in while recording a Slow Motion Video!!!
It doesn't crash either! The Zoom Speed can be set from super slow to super fast! It opens a whole new way to use the Slow Motion mode on the Camera!!!
  :D :D :D

Okay - I'll bite.   What did you do to make that happen?

It's a script! First you load it in, then you hit the shutter button while in CHDK Alt Mode, to start the script, then you hit the Alt button to leave CHDK Mode, then you can use the FuncSet button to make it zoom in, and then when you click it again, it zooms out. You can even do it while recording any type of video! I will attach the script here. Soon, I will make the ultimate CHDK video online for everyone to see how far you can push your camera!

:) Nice, tried on Sx270, pressing buttons in wrong order during <rec> keeps cam "busy" too long, then Movs can be reviewed on cam, but are broken somewhere.
Tried to fix that (??? && focus? ), needs deeper look & more light...  :-[

The reason the focus becomes out of focus during zooming, is because these cameras don't have professional lenses, they don't focus while zooming in due to having to shift all the internal optics around, so during this time, they become out of focus while shifting everything. More light is needed during slow motion, because the shutter is opening an closing faster, therefore, brightness is achieved through ISO. Too high ISO will end up being very grainy, while to little will be too dark. That's why pros like "The Slow Mo Guys" use extremely bright studio lights to brighten whatever they film. Achieving anything good with these cameras requires hacking these cameras every which way to get anything working. Once I figure how to force control the resolution, I will make sure to make a script to film Slow Motion in HD. If I can find where the frame rate is controlled too, I will make sure to make a script that controls frame rate. Who knows, maybe soon I will write a new script that will shoot 1 Thousand FPS and be HD at the same time. It's all a matter of really pushing the Cameras to their limits. The Canon SX270 is smaller than my Canon SX40HS, so your camera's processor may be weaker, which is why it takes too long on the "Busy" screen. You are pushing the Camera way past its limits. But I believe we aren't pushing our cameras far enough. There has to be a way to push them even farther. I want to push these cameras further.

We tried a lot ...  8)

It's a great start. But it's time to force better resolution and higher frame rates. :)
