hi there
I have an old IXUS 960 with firmware GM1.00C.
I tried to install CHDK, but no success.
I tried different SD cards, different formats (FAT16, FAT32), one or two partitions, small card (2GB), big card (8GB)... I simply do not get the menu "firmware update". I am sure, I perfectly followed the instructions.
Any additional tipps?

The most common problems are
1) Start the camera in playback mode, meaning using the button with the blue triangle instead of the normal power button
2) Make sure to scroll down to the bottom of the menu
3) If you transferred files to the card using a Mac, see https://chdk.fandom.com/wiki/FAQ/Mac#Still_Having_Trouble?

The IXUS 960 is a pre-2011 cam, so you need FAT16 to automatically boot CHDK. However, you should be able to load CHDK using firmware update from any card the camera recognizes.

I just tried it again, and now it works ;-)
I cannot even say for sure what I did differently, I think it was something with the Hex Editor on the Mac, which I did wrong.
But now it works, thanks a lot!
