Unable to install CHDK with Stick

Hi!

I wanted to install CHDK on my Ixus 100 IS (I have a S100 in the waiting line too) but I'm having difficulties. I tried to do it with Stick on my Windows 10 machine, but no luck. The first issue after installing Java was that I was unable to run Stickx.cmd so after that I just tried to run the .jar-file with "java -jar stick.jar" and got further, downloaded a stable chdk-version and the next thing was to install it on the SD-card. But the problem was that even when I tried multiple cards all of them were "unknown". Atleast it detected the drive letter... but I think it was because I ran the .jar-file differently than it should. And yes, I formatted the 4GB card to FAT16, also tried 16GB and 32GB cards with FAT32.

So the question is: HOW the F can I run the stickx.cmd???

Can you described specifically what happened when you attempted to run it or why you were unable to run it?

FWIW, on windows you can also try CHIMP https://github.com/CHDKUtil/CHIMP/releases/

Also FWIW the S100 is a 2011 cam, meaning that unlike the Ixus 100, it can boot from a FAT32 card. This means card preparation is much simple, you have the option of just copying the files, loading CHDK with "firm update" and making the card bootable from there (method 2 in the bootable SD card section of https://chdk.fandom.com/wiki/Prepare_your_SD_card)

If I run it by double clicking it I will just get a dialogue for what app I want to run it with and there are just like archive/zip-apps etc, no Java, but If I do the same with "run as an administrator" the CMD-window just opens and closes really fast and then nothing happens.

I will try the CHIMP now, lets see how it goes.

That's odd, AFAIK .cmd files should be automatically run when you double click. Could be a changed setting on your computer (or it's some new windows default I'm unaware of)

You could try opening command prompt and running it from there.

Just the person I've been looking for! I'm writing a CRW parser, and I'm desperate for a sample from a PowerShot camera ;)

I'm considering adding CRW support to CHIMP. Could you please confirm that the S100 has a raw only mode (i.e. only .CRW files are stored on card)?

P.S. Sorry for posting off-topic

Split canon raw discussion to https://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=14713.0

(Topic drift is normal and fine, but I'm sure most of that discussion doesn't matter to Noisefekt :D)
