I don't seem to recall, is there a viable option to get a camera JPEG from a DNG after the fact? Regarding the inevitable part of your question, the DNG is not the originally captured one. I often shoot at -0.3 to -0.7 EV to retain the texture I seek in highlights (thanks to the zebra) and the corresponding JPEGs are of poor quality. Now, I'd like to see what the JPEG would have been for some images at default exposure as determined by the camera's meter. I can easily multiply all pixels in the DNG by a constant factor as needed, 1.2589 or 1.6319, of course increasing intrinsic noise, but essentially still getting close enough for low ISO exposures. I was wondering if there is a simple way that already exists, or is something intricate and theoretically possible needed (such as swapping out the image in memory before a JPEG is made after the capture of some dummy shot). It would be neat if this could be done without jumping through too many hoops.
