I must agree with you, it must be since it still does movies without overexposure area.
the chances that it is repairable by me seem slim, small parts, extremely tight fit.
so at best replaceable.
since a stuck shutter (closed) is what usually ends the life of my cams there is little chance for me harvesting that part.

Also agree. I'd still be interested to see it on a uniform background. Finding the shutter speed where it isn't totally over-exposed might give a better idea of what's going on.

But in any case, it seems virtually certain to be a hardware fault involving the shutter somehow, so any additional information just be about curiosity and unlikely to change the outcome.

i have a ton of images with this flaw in all exposures the cam is capable of, since it was in use 24/7 and it took me 2 month to replace it.
it's always the same area, just more (over)exposed......i see no difference in pattern or sun position in any of them.
but if you still want to see a few images that aren't totally overexposed, just let me know. it won't be a white wall, but close to that with a cloudy day, like the ones i posted earlier.

although i don't think i can fix it, i won't put it in the skip just yet and will take a go at disassembling because i'm curious too...but that'll probably not happen before xmas.

If it is like I suspect then the error should become smaller and smaller with longer exposure times.

not really smaller, but less distinct. see for yourself.
these images were shot in the morning, sun was low behind the cam more to the right side. the earlyer images were from the afternoon with the sun higher behind the cam more to the left.

those images look like there is no problem, the exposure difference is there from about 1/30 or shorter, with the highest difference with shortest exposure times, as you would expect with light bleeding for n-milisecond because the speed the sensor is read being the same.
between 1 and 15 seconds you really have to know what your looking for to see any difference at all...here are 2 images at a bit longer than one second....there is still a brighter patch, but not much.
