Here the aurora was clearly visible with the naked eye, I have never experienced anything like it, and I have been engaged in amateur astronomy for almost 30 years.
Looks like the show isn't over yet, giant sunspot AR3664 unleashed another X-flare on May 11th--its strongest yet. This CME could reach Earth on May 13th. Data source:
https://www.spaceweather.com/Attached is a picture of the giant spot AR3664 which is the cause of all this. The width of the sunspot is about 200,000 km, the last seen of that size was the Carrington sunspot from 1859.
The image is stacked from a video taken with the a590is through the telescope.
