What is the right way to save Scripts?

Hi all, another newbie question.
I've searched and searched but I haven't found a reference yet on the correct way to save a script that's posted in a thread.
ie: as text instead of a hyperlinked download. (right click <save as> I can do!)  :haha

Here's what I've done with a few scripts (can't remember which ones as I've deleted them all) some worked and others wouldn't work at all, or locked up the camera. I realize I may have had the camera in the wrong mode to use a particular script. What I'm after now is to make sure that I'm saving them correctly so if they don't work I'll know that it's my fault and not how I saved the script.

Ok so I <copy> the script text <paste> into notepad then I <save as> xxxxx.bas making sure that it's saved as an "All Files" and not as a ".txt"  Now the confusing part under the encoding do I save it under ANSI, or Unicode, or Unicode big endian, or UTF-8?

Any help in clearing this up for me would be much appreciated.

Thanks!!

I've always copy/paste to note pad in windows. Never had problems with encoding.

Thanks Wontolla!

I'll just leave my encoding at the default and see what happens.
