Hello

first of all my warmest gratitude and appreciation for the developers of CHDK! you guys are an examplinary  of opensource goodwill and achievements!

I have an ixus 850is and i installed and tried out the CHDK and just loved it. I came across CHDK after wondering how i could get better pictures taken under water thru the water proof enclosure and CHDK offers many possibilities thru scripts to make things easier for an amature photographer who wants the pictures to be a little better than average snaps ;).

to my disapointment, my enclosure WP-DC9 doesnt have a button extension for the print button, hence if i want to toggle between menus, that wont be possible.

Is there any way or chance to have an optional button for toggling between menus or a key combination to toggle between menus.

as a thought on how this could be implemented, is it possible to configure the menu to automatically toggle lets say at 5 seconds interval between the camera and the chdk menu unless either menu is being used?
that could be a work arround to accessing the print button issue or could it?

What? you aren't supposed to print underwater? :-)

I will give a look at the code... it's a parte I have never studied but it shouldn't be too difficoult..

The ability to change the Alt button is available on some cameras (in the "Miscellaneous stuff") menu but presumably not the 850. The key is actually defined in CHDK.CFG (it's entry 63) so if you know what you are doing and have a hex editor you can alter it there I think. As fibonomi says, which keys could you use instead (remembering that you'll need to be able to navigate the menus with up/down/left/right and set)?

Well,it could be any key,even up or down,as the button retains its functionality,you just have to press for about 2 seconds.

there is an annoing "bug" with a650's print button
if i associate anything to print button, if i leave alt mode, the associated function is executed(manual wb for example).
the other problem is that if i set autoisoshift to directprint button, it should be useable when i hold halfway the shutter button.. but only it "resets" the keyboard and focuses again
i looked at the source code kbd.c ...
i need help...

See 'core/conf.c', the function ''conf_change_alt_mode_button'.
Then, i.e.  'paltform/s3is/kbd.s', the function 'kbd_set_alt_mode_key_mask' and related stuff.

i don't want to change the alt button, only i want to eliminate that bug but i have no ideea(and time) how...

Anyway, look at the second function. It operates with 'alt_mode_key_mask' variable. See, how it's used.
