about badpixel file creation: is there a chance we can do this in camera? shoot an "old format" raw, go to file browser -> "right click" create badpixel file. no?

Yes, this feature in my plans.
Hmm, six check-ins in one day? I don't have time to refresh my local copy  :D.

I've also added code that to make the colormatrix optional - that way we can
add DNG support for cameras before someone has worked out the colormatrix.

dng_validate reports:

*** Warning: IFD 0 AnalogBalance is not allowed with unknown color plane count  (missing ColorMatrix1 tag?) ***
*** Error: PhotometricInterpretation requires use of ColorMatrix1 tag (SubIFD 1) ***

Also Adobe camera RAW cannot open such file.

I think that approximate color matrix can be calculated using DNG4PS2(beta), but how we can calculate active area of new matrix? This is mystery for me.

Because color thumbnail was planned. Now it works, but colors are not too good (but accectable for me ;))

Didn't check new version, but I presume you took 10 bit linear color values from bayer image (not from jpeg generated by camera)? Those values are, besides they are linear, in sensor color space. Interpreting them as sRGB will give quite desaturated image (that's why color matrix is for - to transform colors from sensor RGB to XYZ and then, using another - well known sRGB matrix, to sRGB), and also, it is not WB corrected. Calculating a proper thumbnail from raw image would take far too long I think

Maybe we must at least add this feature to cameras without it (maybe all A5x0, A4x0 (how about IXUS/SD series?)) and test if this feature works.
I see also that in many cameras "slow sync" mode also absent...

yeah, definitly. i VERY OFTEN use a) slow sync and b) rear curtain shutter flash in my s3is. very great techniques to create nice pictures (if you know how to handle it :D)

how did you know these features arent present in some cams? reading the manuals or looking for strings in the firmwares or reading user reports?

Registry edit to allow you to see DNG thumbnails in Windows Explorer.

In case anybody didn't know it:

(Although the posting talks about Nikon NEF files, at the bottom of the page there's the registry edit that applies to DNG files.)

Great!

So, next build. Changes:
 - color thumbnail
 - added some TIFF/EXIF tags (suggested by MartinBudden) (also CHDK version)
 - IXUS850(SD800) support

Maybe if this version has no essential lacks, it can be added to trunk (after adding other IXUS/SD-series support) ?
