Well,

I tested changing to 'dng' extension in CHDK menu.
The dng files are not transfered by the Camera Window program, and they are not showed by the windows explorer  ;)

The only way to take it from camera was to use my card reader. The Exif tags of the dng files where readed ok by Geosetter and Photoshop.

It still doesn't show the Owners Name data that came in the jpegs.

I think that I'll keep the CRW extension and after the trasfer, I'll change the extension using the "magic trick" teached by ewavr.. :haha

May be, may be ... I cannot test it without camera.
However, can you look in memory browser to variable at 0x8954 with option "dng visible via usb" turned off and on?
In lowest line "dereferencing: string" must be ".CR2" and ".DNG" respectively.
p.s. we talking about a720?

Yes, my camera is the A720IS.
I looked at memory browser, and in the variable 0x8954 shows .CR2 with "dng visible via USB" off and shows ".DNG" when is on.

I keep it ON ("dng visible via USB") and when I tried to transfer the images from camera CameraWindow crashes with this error:

Well, is not so bad.
With windows explorer I can see all the content of the images on camera via USB, and I can copy to my computer everything, including the dng files... I think that I am ok now.

The camerawindow program just add the automatic creation of a folder with the date for each photo. But I believe that I can do it manually.

Thanks Ewavr!

I don't expect that CamerWindow can tranfer dng, becuse it uses specific Canon's dll libraries with undocumented features...
After uploading CHDK to camera using Canon software we can even see diskboot.bin in camera using Windows explorer (until the camera is not connected to PC again).

What you mean Ewavr?
You are telling me that I can copy for example a new diskboot.bin file to the card trough USB using windows explorer direct to camera?
At this moment, if I connect the camera to the USB, with windows explorer I can see all the pictures stored, i.e., I supposed to be seeing the DCIM folder... I'm wrong?
Can you explain me how do you upload CHDK using Canon Software?

You can copy new diskboot.bin (and even other files) using special software from Canon (FAQ - CHDK Wiki). Canon distributed it with official firmware update (to copy ps.fir to card without card reader).

p.s. I very often use this software to copy new CHDK to camera without card releasing.

Bad luck, the links to the uploader are lost. I'll have to google it to see if I can find it.
