Anyway, even ACR does some NR with NR (luma and chroma) set to zero. It can be reduced by lowering the value of appropriate tag in dng file, resulting in sharper picture (and higher noise)

Vit40, I noticed something in ACR but i wasn't sure. How can reduce that? What is the appropriate tag to change and which software can do that? :D Thank you in advance.

It is tag Baseline Noise (hex. C62B) - see dng specification. I lowered value of this tag from 300/100 to 200/100 in A620 template of DNG4PS v1.14 (I'm still using that version, bacause i think it's still not possible to customize matrix in DNG4PS2, and I want to use my calibration). Also changed other tag - Baseline Exposure - to value 0/100 (it was +50/100)

From my remembering, in dng made from EOS 400D raw file, baseline noise is 110/100 and baseline exposure is -25/100 (that's why DSLR-s have some exposure headroom in highlights - if jpeg is correctly exposed, raw is actually underexposed by 1/4 stop, and ACR takes this into account)

Thank you Vit, can I use a generic Hex editor to see those tags?

ps. We are trying to find a better matrix for S5 in the other thread, and we are using dngsetmatrix program to change matrix in DNG. Do you think it's not reliable?

You can use hex editor, or if you are familiar with Delphi, I also have a program to do it (similar to DngSetMatrix)

I didn't understand what did you mean with the question "Do you think it's not reliable" - DngSetMatrix, matrix in DNG4pS2 or ?
