Continuous file numbering with chdk???

Hello

I just tried chdk for the first time (Allbest release for A570 IS), but even though I liked most of it, there was something that bothered me...

The camera lost the continuous file numbering (started from img_0001 again)...

Is there any way to mantain the camera file numbering, while using chdk at the same time?

Thank you very much for your help...

Hi

Thanks for replying...

Yes I did. I always have the camera on continuous numbering, I don't like it any other way...

That's why I went  :o when after running chdk, the picture numbers started on 0001, even though the canon menu still showed continuous file numbering...

Is this usual with chdk, or it could be something erroneous with this build/camera conjunction?

Thank you

It's strange, I have not notice anything like that,
Tha camera reads also last file number, try what happens when you put i.e. CANON100/IMG_1000.JPG onto sd card..

She starts over again...

I just tried "A570 Rossig Builds", and the numbering was fine with that build, until the moment I turned on raw shooting. By then, the numbering was reset again to 0001.

Do you have 2 folders (e.g. CANON100 and CANON10x) on your card ?

On some cams (on DryOS ones ? / not sure) the first RAW pic is saved with wrong date (01/01/2000 or something like that), also in a folder with the lowest start number...

Pls. have a look to your card with card reader & tell us....perhaps the transfer software (ZoomBVrowser, Win assistant...) start with the lowest folder-number... :-[

I just noticed that by mistake I placed this topic on the wrong section. Will a moderator please move it to the right one?

fe50: I've made the test formatting the card, copying the chdk build into it and firing away some test shots.
The camera has a little over 1200 shots, so it creates a new 101Canon folder (inside de dcim folder), with an img_1239.jpg file (sample number).

When running chdk without activating the raw save option, it continuous the numbering (img_1240.jpg file on 101Canon folder).

Activating the save raw option, it creates a new folder (102Canon) and starts the file from 1 (img_0001.jpg + img_0001.cr2).

This happens with Rossig build, with the Allbest haven't tried without the raw save option off, but when turned on, it happens the same...

CHDK has a lot of cool features, but the one that convinced me to try it was the use of raw files (since A570 jpg's are a little bit on the downside when using it on weird light conditions... But I'm not willing to drop the continuous file numbering for it...

If anyone have any idea on how to solve this, it would be most welcome...

Thank you

Ok...I'm just tossing out ideas here, but maybe your little battery is dead (that little circle one which you have to unscrew). I believe it keeps the clock and the volatile memory running (probably for storing setting/pictures)...
Try without CHDK...does it go back to regular continuous numbering?

(Un)fortunately, it's not that also...

It works fine without CHDK, and even when running it, as long as the Raw save option is disabled.

It only fails when saving raw files...

:(

But thanks for the tip anyway...

Hi nunopicado,

you can try to isolate the issue - can you do the following:

- reset your cam to the defaults (on Canon menu, "Reset All")
- delete the config file "CHDK.cfg" in folder /CHDK on your card (or better: format & install CHDK new)
- take another SD Card (the 16/32 MB shipped with the cam)
- try it with the latest Autobuild version ?
- play with the options in the CHDK Raw menu ("Raw file in dir with JPEG")
