Can't Find Firmware Update For My SD1000/IXUS70.

From what I have learned so far, SDM-CHDK is the version that might work best with my particular camera.  The problem is that it is only available for firmware versions 1.00c, 1.01b and 1.02a.  My camera came with firmware version 1.01a and I am unable to find a firmware update that will bring me to a compatible version.

I went to the "official canon firmware updates page" locate here: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Official_Canon_firmware_updates and tried downloading the one for the SD1000, but it turns out to actually be for the SD100 and will not load...

I understand that other SD1000 owners are using CHDK, so is there another place to find a firmware update?  Or, will one of the three SDM versions work on my cameria even though the firmware version is not the same.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

As written on CHDK - CHDK Wiki:
Quote
#  SD1000 (IXUS70), Fw: 1.01b, 1.02a, (1.01a with CHDK version for 1.01b)
So you can use version for 1.01b ;-)

I am having the same issue right now... I have tried both the 101b and 101a for my camera and I cannot locate the firmware update menu option...

Any ideas... I have tried new batteries, different SD cards and also reseting the camera settings... no go.. I had this working once before about a year ago... but I have seen some nice developments and would like to start using this again.

Thanks

@jderosa3 Do you have a mac? I had the same problem at first (no Firm Update menu option) and it turned out to be because my mac was adding some extra stuff to the file when downloaded from the internet. Quite possibly the only thing I've ever done that would have been easier on a PC ;-)

I use the chdk on my SX230 and SD1100 cameras, and I installed them using a Macbook, currently running 10.6.8.

Well here's the problem I had on a mac. With Leopard, when you download an application from the internet and then run it, you get a little warning tell you it came from the internet and asking if you're sure you want to run it. This means that the mac is adding some hidden characters to the file so that it knows it was downloaded from the internet. Those flags are making it not work on the camera.

If you go to the Mac FAQ page, there are instructions for using the Terminal to remove those flags so that it will work. I followed those directions and now everything works fine.

Sure, here it is: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ/Mac

I followed the directions on that page and eventually they all worked. If you want to be able to autoboot, you need to follow the long parts of the directions with downloading a Hex editor and all of that stuff (worked for me; depending on your camera it might only work on cards less than 4 gigs). If you just want to be able to manually boot up, it should work if you just copy the files, but you may have to remove the flags I mentioned earlier. To do that, go down near the bottom of the page where it says "remove the flags using Terminal." If you're not familiar with Terminal commands, be very careful using them and make sure they are only referring to your SD card, so that you don't end up erasing anything else. I have the current version of Leopard and that worked for me; I don't know if its different if you have a different system.
