Lightning shots!

Hi

I recently had a chance to capture a couple of amazing lightning shots using motion detection, and I wanted to share my results with the community.

See the pictures here: Lightning at Cypemort Point on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I shot the pictures on a Cannon A650 IS, using allbest's build.  I used fudgey's fast motion detection script, (Fast MD with burst/preview mode), which works wonderfully.  I used a very small threshold of about 6.  I shoot in RAW mode, and had to increase the delay to stop it from shooting continously.  I set the camera in full manual, focus to infinity, a small Av, ISO 80, and 2-4 sec exposure.

Enjoy the shot, and any comments/criticism is appreciated!

That's a fantastic capture. With CHDK you caught not only the lightning, but a great sunset too. Congrats!

That's so unbelievable that it doesn't even look real!

Great job! That's a photo you'll be proud of for the rest of your life!

It's so perfect that I don't believe it is real.

I like the fact that it could not be done without my work too :-)

The composition  :o  ... (considering the random nature of lightening) ... perfect in-frame dance!
