It seems it is based on face detection + some DSP so it's unlikely to see it in immediate CHDK releases. It's just one of those marketing tricks (like ISO 6400).

Smile detection?impossible imo. Face detection? Possible. Maybe. By using skin color tones in conjunction with MD.

My canon SX100 has face detection, so that is already available. Then you search for a smile (whiter shape) inside the rectangle, and there you have it.

Some marketing tricks wouldnt be bad for CHDK  :blink:
