Questions regarding Powershots & UV filters

We know that the powershots have IR filter in front of the CCD. But is there any arrangement for reducing the effect of
UV rays? Are the lenses already coated with UV-filtering substances? Or, we need to attach separate UV filters for them?

Many IR cutoff filters also cut the UV as well. I am pretty sure that most of the cameras already have some UV filter, although a dedicated UV filter at the end of the len can't hurt (well, besides for some light loss).

Maybe you need to attach separate UV filters for them.

I was under the impression that CCDs are not affected by UV rays (unlike film). At least, that's what I've read in other forums every time someone asks about UV filters.

I always use one in front of my S3 when it's raining, so when I clean the raindrops I risk scratching the filter and not the lens. I've never noticed any difference in the image with or without the filter.
