Bought the SD790IS / IXUS90IS and I'm hoping to dump and port it. I'm also imagining that this model will be fairly compatible with the SD770IS / IXUS85IS. The ver.req returns:

Canon DIGITAL IXUS 90 IS
P-ID:3174 PAL D

Firmware Ver GM1.00D
NoError
Jan 24 2008 18:26:41

So far though no luck getting any response with udumper (and kin). The only response I've been able to get is with a diskboot.bin that is either zero bytes or has 0x00 as the first byte. In either case the result is the camera is dead when powered on, no response at all. Anything else results in the camera booting as per normal. Seems a lot like the experience with the SD1100IS / IXUS80IS here: Problems dumping the SD1100IS/IXUS80IS

Wondering if there are any thoughts on what the next step is I should try?

Hi,

To be honest I have no idea whether this has actually worked or not, but after using the dryos2008 diskboot.bin after making an SD card bootable with cardtricks I obtained an empty.dum file which the bin/text viewer in cardtricks was able to read.

The firmware info for my camera:

Canon Digital IXUS 90 IS
P-ID:3174  PAL D

Firmware GM1.00D
NoError
Jan 24 2008 18:26:41

Adj Ver.007.009
IS Firm 2.05
IS Param 2.03

I don't have IDA and the freeware version appears not to include the ARM processor for reading a dump file. Make that, I can't read and got the free instead of demo.

I've uploaded the Text/Bin output and dump to zShare. If you need another dump or something else done let me know, I'm happy to help. I have a programming background, but never actually delved into assembly (I blame my Uni for discontinuing the course) so I'm quite lost.

dump.txt - 0.24MB
empty.7z - 1.13MB

i have a sd790is with firmware GM1.00E. i do the normal way to run chdk (switch to review mode ect.)but to do the firmware update to get CHDK running i have to wait until the lens retracts. unfortunately, when i press the button to go back to the normal mode, the camera turns off (it dosent use a switch to go between modes and there is no way to turn of the shut down after lens retract feature.) whats even worse is that after i turn it back on the chdk update is gone.

Hello & welcome, epadz !

No, that's not the "normal" way to run CHDK ;)
Just power on your camera in playback mode, with the [>] button; then start CHDK with "Firmware Update" from the Canon menu. To switch to record mode, press (or half-press) the shutter button once...

See also the following CHDK wikia links:
