Facial and armpit hairs of ants

The red ants are approximately between 2 to 3.5 millimeters long.

Hand held, taken with antique Pancolor 50mm/1.8 standard lens (1975) reverse mounted.
Onboard flash diffused with diffuser made with stereofoam cup. This was  mounted on attached lens. This provided ring flash type of light. Flash synchronized at 1/2000 sec. with the help of CHDK.

Cropped, de-noised, color corrected and sharpened.

thanks for the links, especially the first one. i got a dcr 250 and an s3is. unfortunately we dont get these foam cups here in germany :D we'll see

Wow, nice macro, I can't get something like this even with my DSLR and the 60mm Macro Lens.
Can you post a picture of your setup? How did you connect the reversed lens to the camera?

Another closeup with similar setup, except that the flash was synchronized at 1/500 sec.

This is the jaw of soldier ant.

Cropped, de-noised, color corrected and sharpened.
