Can't discover the firmware version on my SD700

As per instructions, I power up in playback mode, get a screen with a photo on it, then hold down the [FUNC]SET button and then also hold down the DISP button, but the firmware version line never appears. Have I got the right buttons? Is there another way?

Aargh - forget it. I forgot to load the ver.req file on the SD card first. Now I know the version.

Now you know your firmware version - if you put your camera model & the firmware version in your signature everybody can see this and can help you as fast as a lightning
