Hi folks,

I am new to CHDK so please be gentle :-)

I need help getting the "Override Subj. Dist. Valu" to work on my Ixus70 / SD1000. I am using the Allbest #50 for Ixus70 with firmware 102a.

As the option "Override Subj. Dist. Valu" is in the menu, I hope that it should be possible for my Ixus70 - although the camera doesn't have a manual focus mode under the normal Canon firmware, as far as I know. In the Allbest usage guide it says "Only works when camera is used in Manual Focusing mode." ... so... is this feature possible on Ixus70 and, if yes, how?

Thanks a ton for your help and for this gem called CHDK which put the fun back into using the Ixus70,

Niklas

Hello & welcome Niklas,

if there's the menu item in your running CHDK version it will work; all the Ixus models doesn't have a Manual Focus mode.

Press the UP key when you are in <Alt> mode (Alt-mode is enabled/disabled with the PRINT key, im sure you know that  ;) ),
then the manual focus will be enabled (you'll see it on the OSD).

While in <Alt> mode, use the zoom rocker to change the value (=subject distance in mm), with the RIGHT & LEFT keys you can change the factor.

The DISP key sets the distance to infinity, DOWN key to hyperfocal distance.

It's also described in the CHDK wikia: CHDK firmware usage/AllBest - Special Short-cut Keys.

Oh thanks so very much! Yes! Yes! Yes! Suddenly superb makro shots _really_ become possible with the once-was-a-point-and-shoot :-)

I had overlooked that info in the usage guide (there is soo much to read/learn in the beginning).

Thanks!
Niklas
