SDM 1.72 has enhanced synchronised-zoom features.
This mode can be enabled or disabled, the zoom timeout value can be user-set and zoom changes direction when the limits are reached.
After selecting a Tv override value, maybe for synchronised flash use, you can enable/disable it via a menu option.
USB download can be enabled/disabled from a script to simplify image download to the PC.
For some 'A' series cameras, you can also switch to playback mode from a script.
With an inverted camera, browsing the large-character pages now works.
A vertical camera rotated to the right now displays pages correctly.
Synchronised flash is now possible when using two different cameras, the delay required for camera synchronisation is added to that required for flash synch.
The display of delay value and confirmation of a valid flash mode should now be correct.
Support for automatic 'hot pixel' removal.
Ixus800/SD700,  ixus860/SD870 and  ixus960/SD950  automatically switch to Record mode on power-up.
ND filter override working on ixus860/SD870    (chris07)
Ixus960/SD950 correctly supports RAW mode, outline mode, anaglyph playback, movie quality/bitrate and dual-partitioning.

Fudgey's fast motion-detection scripts (including video support) for both DIGIC II and DIGIC III cameras are included in the SCRIPTS folder.

StereoData Maker

(Do not ask how you get rid of 'that big message' on the startup screen !)

How do I get rid of that big message?

JUST KIDDING!! ::)

Can't wait to try out the synchronized zooms. Thanks for keeping on top of this and adding the new features.

Hello David, would you consider releasing the source this time?

regards, PhoX

Hi, on IXUS860/SD870 there has to be at least 16MB first partition on dual partition boot (8GB or 16GB cards), it does not work with just 2MB first partition! Can you please fix it in SDM.exe?

More details here:

Hi.

Thanks, I saw your previous message and have passed the details to the author of  sdminst.exe.
I did not write the installer and do not have the source-code.
The author is in China at present but will be returning in about three weeks.

With that change, the installer should be useful for many more people, even if they do not use the SDM build.

I have just received this reply from the author of sdminst.exe :-

"My IXUS960 use the DRYOS OS.
And I tried to use dual-partition(2MB primary partition).
It worked fine!"

So, please try the installer provided with SDM 1.72 and let us know of any problems.

i understand there is no sourcecode to the installer (though some people eventually will argue about that at some point) but i guess you are in the possession of the sourcecode of SDM, a more recent version than 1.70, because without it, you would not have been able to compile 1.72 for example, am i correct?
Since you did not reply to neither my question regarding source in this thread here, nor in the 1.71 release thread i am wondering what is your motivation behind this. have you lost the sourcecode? that would be the only reason for not publishing it, because otherwise you would have the obligation to publish it (gpl'ed, remember?). i don't really feel like starting a fight again over this issue, maybe there is an explanation to your behaviour...

Staying with the content of your post, rather than the tone, the source-code for SDM major-releases (1.5, 1.7, 1.8 for example) has been, and will continue to be,  made available at the same time as the builds release.

(SDM minor-versions are often mainly bug-fixes).

With a very heavy workload, I must obviously set my own priorities for any additional work.

I am not aware of anyone being inconvenienced by this policy and patience is a virtue.

I haven't used SDM much and haven't looked at it's source tree more than a few times, but I have archived recent releases along with their source packages and I must say I am quite surprised to hear that the source packages I've downloaded have often been out of date.

i think my tone is rather nice for someone seeing the gpl violated ;)
anyhow, i wouldnt have insisted on a reply on behalf of you when you just answered to me in the 1.71 release thread in the first place.
i don't see .71 and .72 being minor releases containing only bugfixes, nevertheless - it is your opinion, one has to obey that (though one does not have to obey the gpl violation).
of course patience is a virtue, but i dont see how a simple zip command can in any way be an obstacle for your priorities.
